Message from Beckie: Thank You + Grand Opening + Scoopers

Thank You. Thank You. Thank You!

Wow! I announced our “Soft Opening” last Wednesday, and needlees to say, the response is overwhelming. It has been so great to see both new and familiar faces in the shop after being closed so long.

If you have yet to check out the new shop, the hours are 2-9 pm Tuesday through Sunday. I am looking forward to see your smiling face here in The Grove. My new address: 4400 Manchester Avenue, 63110

Grand Opening: Sunday, July 17th

Ice Cream Day is Sunday and I am making it my “Grand Opening” as well. It is also the 19th Anniversary of my opening back in 2003. Mark your calendar for balloons, music, revelry and specials at the shop!

I have a special giveaway on Sunday for our Grand Opening. The first 100 guests to purchase a pint of ice cream receive a collectors ice cream scooper featuring the new Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream logo.

Need Scoopers and Assistant Managers

What’s more fun than ice cream? I currently am in need of Scoopers and Assistant Managers. It’s the perfect job for awesome older teens, college kids, and others who are still "Young at Heart!" Bring me a great attitude and work ethic. I train you to do the rest.

Email: beckie@serendipity-icecream.com or call the store: 314-833-3800 or apply via our Facebook page here. You can also stop in and fill out an application during Serendipity store hours (Tuesday through Sunday, 2-9 pm) at: 4400 Manchester Avenue, 63110

A letter from Beckie: Fundraising to Cure Blood Cancer

I’m once again working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society “Team In Training” program, raising funds to cure blood cancer and training to ride 100 miles in June. Please donate to my TNT fundraiser!

I realize there are crises every day that demand our attention, but cancer is still not cured. Children like Beckett, our team’s Honored Hero this year, or adults, like my friends Darcy and Hal, battle chronic health issues.

Just because cancer, and specifically blood cancer, isn’t the crisis du jour, it doesn’t mean that the fight has ended. That is why I am fundraising for LLS.

Beckett, Darcy, and Hal benefit from the research and success powered by the fundraising of Team In Training. I’m fundraising for Beckett, Darcy, Hal, as well as for countless others, to cure cancer once and for all!

On the left: Team Matriarch, Johnelle Rhines (the team name is “Kalie’s Krewe” for her late daughter). In the middle: Darcy (mentioned in story). On the right: Beckie Jacobs.

Consider donating, and any donation, no matter the size, is important. Your donations fund treatments that save lives, like immunotherapies that use a person’s own immune system to kill cancer.

I am participating in Team in Training to ride 100 miles around Lake Tahoe in June. I ride, because many cannot. You can help too, by donating to my effort.

Again, every single donation helps save a life with breakthrough therapies for blood cancer. Beckett, Darcy, Hal, and I appreciate your support.

Obviously, it takes more than one person to make up a team. That is why I am asking you to donate to: Beckie’s Team in Training Fundraiser

Message from Beckie: Thank You and Happy Holidays

Wow! I am so truly overwhelemed! But, I just wanted to take a time out from the busy holiday season to let everyone know just how much I have appreciated all of the kindness, support, and acceptance from the overall Webster Community. Especially this past week!

Over the last 18 years… Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream has been a place where my customers have become lifelong friends, where parents have brought their kids in to enjoy ice cream, and where those kids grew up to become my employees (often their first job).

My hope is that when kids grew up or moved away… There remained a place in their hearts to recall the ice cream store they went to meet after school shows, celebrate big wins, or soften the sorrow of defeats. A place to go with mom, dad, friends, and neighbors.

I know I achieved what I set out to do: Be a place that families love and where happiness is served! Thanks again, Webster friends, for welcoming me in. This is not “Goodbye” but “See you soon!” I’ll be just a few minutes down 44. And the new shop will be fantastic!

Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas!
Sincerely, Beckie Jacobs, Owner
Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream

PS: Only 44 more days until “Ice Cream for Breakfast Day” on Saturday, February 5th at The Parkmoor as well as The Sliced Pint.

Closing Webster Groves on Sunday except for pick ups and moving sale items

Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream will be closing the Webster Groves shop on Sunday, Dec. 19th (as opposed to next Thursday, Dec. 23rd).

Due to everyone’s loving support, customers have flocked to the shop, literally eating up our remaining sweet treats. We are extremely humbled and grateful and we really look forward to opening our super cool new flagship, in The Grove, Spring 2022.

But, the Webster Groves store will be open… next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (December 21-23) from 2-5 pm to accommodate those who reserved holiday ice cream, bon bons, cakes & pies, prior to announcing the store’s closure. Customers who can’t pick up their orders at that time, must contact Serendipity at 314-962-2700 to make other arrangements.

We are right now having a “Moving Sale” too… We are trying to deplete inventory before the move, so items on tables and in boxes like t-shirts ($10 each) and “Ice Cream for Breakfast Day” mugs ($5 each) are on sale in the ice cream shop. Please stop in all this weekend, and next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, for gifts and last minute stocking stuffers!

Thank You and Happy Holidays!

Letter from Beckie to her loyal customers and fans

Dear beloved customers and fans,

After 18 years in Webster Groves, I have been unable to come to an agreement with my landlord, who will terminate the lease at the end of 2021. Fortunately, my plans for an all new landmark location in the Grove have been in the works. I am graduating from a smaller shop to a newer, bigger, and better space!

The new shop will have new hours and menus. I will be open earlier for coffee and pastries and remain open late with Spirited Shakes for those over 21. Look for new menu items such as Coffee Floats (coffee over a bon bon), Affogato (ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso), and Poffertjes (tiny Dutch pancakes).

Every year, I close the shop for the month of January and reopen on the first weekend of February for Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. This year is a little different. Due to supply chain and construction issues, buildout of my new Grove location is taking longer than expected. So I will not be open until Spring 2022.

The good news is: I will be using this opportunity to collaborate and partner with friends, many of whom are restaurant customers. Expect Serendipity to pop up in various locations all around the St. Louis area!

Ice Cream for Breakfast Day will be back this year. It will take place at both The Parkmoor Drive-In and The Sliced Pint: February 5th, 8-11 am. After Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, I plan to be open on the 2nd level of The Sliced Pint up until I am fully open in the new Grove location.

Thanks for your patience and for bearing with me as Serendipity goes through changes, grows, and takes the next big step. I really appreciate all of your support in Webster Groves the past 18 years *and* I am still looking for a suitable location in the area.

In the meantime, I truly hope you will follow and stick with me during my move to the new Grove location. This is my dream! Continue the journey with me!

Sincerely, Beckie Jacobs, Owner,
Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream
